Steve McNair

Well Steve McNair is now a Baltimore Raven. The Ravens actually have a good quarterback under center for once, this is a great move by the Ravens and for McNair. He wasn't wanted in the Titans camp, I really think the Titans wanna get Vince Young on the field as soon as possible and would be tough with McNair still on the team. The Raven's can't go wrong with this Kyle Boller was and is not the answer look for the Ravens to be much approved maybe contend for a wild card spot.

NHL finals game 2

Well game 2 is over and it wasn't pretty for the Oilers losing 5-0. This series is over, just give it to Carolina. Losing Roloson killed Edmonton, he was a huge reason they are in the Stanley Cup finals. This ends up in a sweep. I doubt their rating got any better either. I think I heard a championship womens fast pitch national championship got higher ratings then this series. The NHL needs to do a better marketing job in the future.

NHL finals game 1

I will admit I watched the game not being a big NHL fan but any kind of finals or championship game I can usually watch. For the most part it was a great game but what killed that game for me was the way it was won. If your a Carolina fan you'll take it anyway you can, if your an Edmonton fan your still puking right now and if your a casual fan like me you were hoping for a better ending. That last goal scored with like 30 seconds left is a goal you can live with in the first period but to end a great game like that just ruined a great game. Ending that on a break away goal in OT would be a great way to end a great game. All give the game a B+.

Hockey, Management and the rest...

There was a great opening round game to the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals last night. Carolina held off Edmonton in a 5-4 Instant Classic. Carolina scored 3 unanwersed goals after being down 0-3 to Edmonton. They then got another one giving them a 4-3 lead. Edmonton got it right back. The Hurricanes got a break when Dwayne Roloson went down hard. Ty Conklin stepped in and in a bad play by all involved Carolina got the go a head goal with only 31.1 seconds left despite a last flurry by Edmonton to try and tie the game. It is sad to see Edmonton lose their best goal keeper in a series only just begun. I'm still hoping for a great series that goes 7 games.

As for the TLS podcast. We still have Episode 29 trying to get uploaded and old episodes showing up unexpectedly getting in the way. Matt and I are meeting today or tomorrow to try and find a better solution which should serve everyone better. Sadly this will cost us money. We'll let everyone know what changes have been made and what you all need to be aware of in the process. Thank you for your continued support for us here at The Last Shot. We greatly appreciate it.

Stay tuned...

NBA playoff match-ups

Who's got the advantage at each position all break it down the way i see it :).

Center spot
The Heat have Shaq and Mourning and the Mavs have Dampier and Diop. This one isn't tough the Heat have the advantage here the Mav's have some guys that can body up with Shaq but thats about it. Look for the Heat to dominate down low at the center position. Shaq and Zo know they don't have a lot more attempts to win titles so they will give everything they got to get the job done.

Forward spot
Mavs have Adrian Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, and Keith Van Horn the Heat have Udonis Haslem, Antoine Walker, and James Posey. This one goes to the Mavs with having Dirk one of the top players in the game and he can't shoot anywhere from the floor. All three of the Heat forwards will get a chance to slow down DIrk. I think Posey will do the best at slowing him down he moves the best.

Gaurd spot
Jason Williams, Gary Payton, Dwayne Wade and Shandon Anderson against Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, Marquis Daniels, and Devin Harris. I have to go with the Heat in these match ups to they have Dwayne Wade who is gonna stop Wade for the Mavs? NOBODY. Will Jason WIlliams play like he did in game 6? No but he will be solid and Gary Payton will play good defense. Stackhouse and Terry have to have huge series for the Mavs to win.

Coaching
Avery Johnson and Del Harris for the Mavs and Pat Riley. Again the Heat have the advantage here Pat Riley is one of the best NBA coaches of all time. Avery Johnson was coach of the year and is a good coach but Riley is hands down the better coach. Coaching will be huge in this series when it comes down to playing the match up game.

I will take the Heat in SIX games

Pujols injury

The Cardinals have put Albert Pujols on the 15 day DL after straining the right side of his back. The Cardinals think he could be out for up to SIX weeks with this injury. Well Barry Bonds single season record is safe again for this year. Pujols has 25 home runs and 65 runs batted in already was the definite MVP of the league hands down and still could be when he comes back. Can he come back from this injury and be as dominate as he has been? Another thing is to see how the Cardinals as a team handle Pujols not in the line up.
